Oklahoma's education department seeks a big boost in funding, to address growing student enrollment and a critical shortage of teachers. State Superintendent of Public Instruction Joy Hofmeister is asking for an increase of 221 million dollars over the current fiscal year. That does not include an addendum of more than 280 million dollars to provide teachers with a $3000 pay raise.
