Physician assistants are filling a void left by the shortage of doctors in Oklahoma. Oklahoma ranks 36th among all states in the number of primary care physicians per 100,000 people. Physician assistants, who earn their degree is about two and a half years, can provide medical care under the supervision of a doctor, without the physician being physically present.
