Economics is a main driver of the power shift from the federal and state government to cities. A recent study concludes that 600 cities in the world produce more than 60% of the planet's GDP. Oklahoma City and Tulsa are both on that list, and combined produce 75% of the state's GDP. Some experts say cities are now becoming more important due to that economic strength and good governance.
